For Black Women Who Are Becoming.
A collective love letter, mirror, and window for Black women everywhere.
Releasing Spring 2026
Black Women in Bloom is a limited-edition coffee table book and global storytelling anthology celebrating the becoming journeys of Black women across the diaspora. Featuring over 30 essays by writers from around the world, alongside stunning photography and original illustrations, the book traces Black women’s stories through the many stages of growth—planting seeds, reproduction, pollination, thorns, and finally, blooming.
Curated and edited by Carefree Magazine founder Anayo Awuzie, Black Women in Bloom is both a work of art and an intimate reading experience. Designed to live on your coffee table but meant to be slowly savored, the book captures the quiet, powerful transformations that too often go unseen: taking risks, choosing softness, seeking healing, and blooming into themselves—unapologetically and on their own terms.
200 pages. Printed on premium 157gsm gloss art paper.
After five years of tending to this garden, one thing I’ve learned from publishing over 100 essays from Black women around the world is that growth is more than a quick “glow-up,” but a slow, natural unfolding—where the beauty is not just in the bloom, but in the process.
Each story is a petal in a larger bouquet, revealing the complexity, softness, and strength that has always lived within us as Black women.
Black Women in Bloom is an offering to Black women everywhere: a reminder that blooming doesn’t have to be loud, linear, or perfect to be worthy of celebration. We were always beautiful. We’re just opening wider and unapologetically showing the world, and more importantly, ourselves, who we truly are.
